Our current turnaround time for made-to-order items is 6–8 weeks.

We make each Alt piece especially for your order. If your chosen fabric isn't currently in stock, it may need to be printed and shipped to us first, which can take around 2–3 weeks. Once your fabric arrives, we can get to the fun bit; cutting, sewing and creating your order.

Our advertised 6–8 week turnaround gives us a little breathing room for fabric production, shipping delays and the occasional hiccup along the way.

We always aim to get your order to you sooner where we can, but please plan around the full advertised turnaround time when ordering.

If an unexpected delay means your order is likely to go beyond this timeframe, we'll contact you to keep you updated.

💜 Ready-to-post, clearance and other stocked items may have different turnaround times, so always check the individual listing.

Yes!

If you've already placed an order and spot something else you'd like, you can place a second order and we'll do our best to combine them.

For UK orders (excluding Northern Ireland), we currently offer free postage, so there is no additional postage cost to combine orders.

For international orders, additional postage may initially be charged. If we can combine your orders, we'll happily refund any unnecessary duplicate postage.

Just send us an email after placing your additional order and let us know you'd like us to combine them.

Please remember that your turnaround time will be based on the most recent order added.

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to ship to the EU or Northern Ireland.

This is due to the additional requirements of the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), which currently make shipping to these areas financially unviable for our small business.

We know this is frustrating, especially when you've found a print you love, and we're continuing to look at ways we might be able to offer shipping to these areas in the future.

We have a huge print catalogue with 2,000+ designs, and unfortunately it simply isn't practical to have every single one listed on the website at the same time.

Our Facebook Group contains our wider print catalogue, including designs that aren't currently listed as Available Prints on the website.

If you've found a print you'd love, check the group first to see whether it's currently available to order and whether any MOQ (minimum order quantity) applies.

If a print isn't currently available, the group will contain the relevant information about ordering and MOQ requirements (check out the Featured Posts).

Our Available Prints are designs that you can currently order without needing to meet a minimum order quantity. These prints are changed quarterly.

We have a huge catalogue, so there's a very good chance we've either got it available, can order it subject to MOQ, or can point you in the right direction.

Quite simply: fabric costs money!

We buy fabric by the metre, and larger garments can require more fabric.

For adult clothing, we aim to keep pricing consistent wherever possible, but some larger/plus-size garments may require additional fabric and therefore have a different price.

For children's clothing, fabric usage can vary significantly depending on the size and style of garment, so pricing can vary between products.

Different styles can also require different amounts of fabric, construction time and finishing, which is reflected in the price.

One of the lovely things about handmade clothing is that we're able to be a little more flexible than a high-street shop.

If you'd like something such as a longer length, different waist measurement or another alteration, get in touch and we'll see whether we can accommodate it.

Please be aware that alterations which take a garment away from our standard pattern may make it bespoke/customised.

Bespoke items are non-returnable unless there is a fault with the product, so please make sure you're happy with any requested changes before we start making your garment.

If you're not sure whether your request is possible, ask before ordering. We'll always do our best to help.

Our garments are handmade and different styles can have very different fits. Your usual high-street size isn't necessarily the size you'll need with us.

For children and tweens in particular, we recommend checking actual measurements rather than choosing purely based on age.

Instead, we offer a selection of Available Prints online, alongside our wider print catalogue in the Facebook Group.

This gives you the choice of browsing by print or browsing by product and choosing the print you'd like us to make it in.

Alt Encore is our upcycled range.

Instead of starting with brand-new fabric, we take existing garments and give them a completely new lease of life.

That might mean transforming, combining, reworking or embellishing an existing piece to create something that's completely different from what it started life as.

Every Alt Encore piece is unique, because we're working with garments that already exist.

No two pieces are guaranteed to be exactly the same, and that's the point.

Alt Encore is for anyone who loves alternative fashion but also loves the idea of giving something old another chance to be brilliant.

It's fashion with a second act.

Alt Originals are made to order. Alt Encore is made from what already exists.

Both are made differently.

Alongside Alt Originals and Alt Encore, we also offer DTF products, licensed merchandise, accessories, clearance items, ready-to-post pieces and other special collections.

DTF stands for Direct to Film.

It's a different way of adding a design to a garment compared with our handmade printed-fabric Alt Originals pieces.

Our DTF listings use ready-made wholesale garments, with the DTF design applied to them.

So:

Alt Originals = handmade garment + printed fabric

DTF = ready-made garment + applied design

Both are part of the Alt Originals world, they're just made differently.

Alongside our handmade ranges, we are also an approved reseller of licensed merchandise.

This includes band merchandise and licensed popular-culture products, with examples including Disney, Marvel, Harry Potter and more.

Licensed products may operate differently from our handmade ranges, including being offered as pre-orders, so always check the individual listing for the relevant information.

Our subscription prints are generally selected as a collection for all subscribers.

However, we know everyone has different tastes, so if you have likes, dislikes or strong preferences, let us know.

We'll always do our best to accommodate preferences where we can, although we can't guarantee that every subscription will be individually tailored.

Yes, in most cases.

If your size changes, just get in touch and we'll help you update it.

You can also cancel and re-subscribe if that's easier for you.

The main exception is where a size change moves you between pricing bands – for example, moving from 4–5 years to 5–6 years+, where the subscription price differs.

We use a range of fabric bases depending on the garment and design.

Cotton Lycra (CL)

Our most commonly used base. Soft, stretchy and versatile.

French Terry (FT)

A slightly heavier fabric with a little less stretch. Great for lighter-weight hoodies and jumpers.

Rib Knit

Super soft, lightweight and stretchy. Particularly lovely for lounge and summer sets.

Swim

Swimwear fabric rated UPF50, designed for swimwear.

Not every fabric is suitable for every garment, so the options available will depend on the product you're ordering.

Our swim fabric is UPF50-rated, giving you additional protection from the sun.

Please remember that UPF-rated clothing is only one part of sensible sun protection, and exposed skin still needs appropriate protection.
